Current Challenges


This is the A/C, Heater, Dehumidifier unit that I have ordered from Amazon.  I don't like wasting my personal time and gas on shopping in person - it is very exhausting to me, and the many choices overwhelm me.  I also like Amazon because as a graduate student, I get a really good deal on Amazon Prime, and some money back on purchases.  This unit was supposed to be delivered to me on Saturday, but it didn't arrive.  I do have a tracking number for FedEx, and will be calling them today when I have a chance.  Hopefully, there won't be a problem with this purchase and delivery.  


My $20 extension cord also purchased from Amazon, and due to arrive in the next couple of days.  The next challenge for this will be finding someone, that can help me bury the cord in my backyard from the patio down to the studio.  My friend Sue, says that she did this in her yard, and that it doesn't have to be buried very deep,. just deep enough, so that the mowers can't hack it up when they mow.  If this works, $20 versus $3500 for electricity to "be run out there" from house to studio is certainly a winning idea in my opinion.  I can't wait to have these things accomplished and established in my creative space.

Williamsburg Bird Bottle and Texas Mosquitos

I have had this bird bottle for many years now, and in all of the moves and places we have lived - never once hung it up.  I lived in Williamsburg, Virginia for one year when I was 20, and I loved the Colonial area, and walking through the Governor's Palace Gardens. I bought the bottle on a return trip when as a family we traveled there to show our girls where we had once lived.  And for them to experience Jamestown, and Colonial Williamsburg. I do not know why I have moved it to so many places and never hung it in a garden.  Or under the eaves of the house. Maybe this says something about me not ever really feeling at home at the other addresses.  I do feel more at home here, and perhaps it is because I have had much to do with the choosing of the main properties and decor of the house.  It has also been a stable and calm period of life, and my children and I do feel comfortable and peaceful and at home here.   The bird bottle is supposed to attract...

Relaxing: Porch Rocking Chairs, Hard Apple Cider and Fire Pit Flames on a Crisp Spring Evening

 I found these two rocking chairs while shopping at Aldi's.  Only $25 each.  After looking around and online - I thought this was a great price for porch rocking and relaxing.    I also found a terrific deal on Amazon for a $65 Fire pit.  Assembly was required - but it wasn't too bad, and thankfully everything was included that was needed for the assembly.  This fire pit came with some great accessories - even a plastic cover for bad weather.   A fire on a crisp Spring night with a crisp apple cider in hand.  Enjoying this from my new rocking chair.  I did realize though that, I will have to put down some kind of stone circle of pavers or a gravel pit somewhere for the fire pit, for safety concerns.  That still needs to be done.   We are going to have a lot of fun with this - roasted marshmallows, smores. and hot dogs coming up!

Backyard Beginnings

Places to sit and reflect I'm so proud that this she shed has found a home and will become a space for me to create! Picnic area.  We love picnics in our family.   The Mission Fig tree transplant.  I am hoping that it lives! I would love to have an area like this to the left of the studio.  This would be into the future  But I really like Adirondack chairs and fire pits.  A place to chill and relax with friends would be really nice.
